CED is publishing the final and consolidated version of the contribution of the civil society to the ongoing forest reform process (in French only). This contribution of civil society was initiated three years ago by the Forest Platform, gathering over thirty CSOs active in the forst sector, and representatives of forest-rich regions of Cameroon. The contribution was put together through a series of meetings to exchange each participant experience and analysis of current issues in forest governance in Cameroon in order to come up with proposals for reform to improve forest management and ensure the protection of forest communities’ rights.
The document is divided into three parts:
The proposal to deeply restructure the forest law puts into question the efficiency of the current system and proposes basis to completely reform forest governance. This option has the preference of the CSOs who worked on the document, while the proposals for a limited revision of the law are in line with the reform framework of the Ministry.
